Welsh in Cardiff

Welsh (Cymraeg) is one of the oldest living languages in Europe and is spoken by a growing number of Cardiff residents. Cardiff Council (Cyngor Caerdydd) provides bilingual services and is committed to promoting the Welsh language.

You don't need to speak Welsh to live in Cardiff, but learning a few words shows respect for the language and culture — and people really appreciate it!
